·       Loud rattling mucus with inability to cough it up

·       Drowsy, weak, sinking state

·       Chest feels full but cough is ineffective

·       Cyanosis or laboured breathing

·       Often in children or elderly

·       Wants to be left alone, irritable when disturbed
